Match Officials

Listed below are Club members who are EBUA (English Bowls Umpires Association) qualified Umpires:

International

  • Alex Duckworth

National

  • Brian Flagg
  • Peter Harris
  • Bob Jarrett
  • Avrel Lee

Regional

  • Richard Wood

All our Umpires initially qualified as EBUA Markers.

Brian Flagg is the EUBA Mentor who will assess any marker who wishes to progress further after attending a Markers Awareness Course (MAC).  He does this by observing a game being marked and, assuming certain criteria are fulfilled, promotions can be made to Club, County or National  level of competence.

This is a great option for BIBC members who enjoy marking, and want to improve their level of performance (and enjoyment) or gain a recognised qualification, but feel that Umpiring is not for them.

There are numerous BIBC members who have attended the EBUA Markers Awareness Course and would welcome marking for members in Club singles competitions, prestigious matches and even the PBA World Qualifiers.  Alex Duckworth has the list if you need a marker, and there is a list next to the club competition draws of players who have volunteered to mark.

From time to time EBUA Markers Awareness Courses are held and any bowler wishing to improve their knowledge of the game and be able to have a greater input in the sport is encouraged to attend.  A notice is displayed at BIBC when the courses will be running, so please watch for them - they will also be posted on this website as News items and/or Events.

Please contact  Alex Duckworth on 01689 830 796 for further details.
